Why This Site Exists
Hampshire County property information is divided by record type. The County Clerk indexes deeds and other recorded instruments; the Assessor maintains parcel ownership, description, and valuation fields; and the Sheriff-Treasurer issues tax tickets and tracks payments. Statewide tools support assessment searches and parcel-map viewing. We organize those routes, explain how to follow a parcel key or deed reference, and identify what to confirm with the office that holds the original.
What You Will Find Here
- Pages by record type: property search, deed records, property tax records, and parcel maps
- The offices behind the records: Hampshire County Clerk, Assessor, and Sheriff-Treasurer, plus West Virginia assessment and parcel-viewing tools
- Search walkthroughs: how to search by address, owner, or parcel; how to trace a chain of title; how to read a tax bill and a parcel map
- Access rules: the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act route for public records, known copy charges, and ways to request material that is not online
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, separate from Hampshire County offices, West Virginia agencies, courts, and records custodians. It cannot act for the Assessor, County Clerk, or Sheriff-Treasurer. In particular:
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot perform a title search or guarantee clear ownership
- We cannot appraise a property or set its assessed value
- We cannot give legal advice about a deed, a boundary, or a tax dispute
- We cannot guarantee that a portal, coverage period, fee, or office procedure has not changed since this page was reviewed
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record, and only a title company or licensed surveyor can settle title or a boundary. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
